Saturday: The Toro Rosso drivers aim for points
Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne were eliminated in Q2 this afternoon during the qualifying sessions in Bahrain, and the Australian believes he did his best. Jean-Eric Vergne, on his side, struggled with the Mediums, unable to make them work properly. Both men believe they have a chance to play in the race tomorrow and will try to finish in the points.
Daniel Ricciardo – 14th and 13th:
This result is not too bad, even though it’s a shame, because we didn’t find the rhythm shown last week. I don’t think I could have done better today, considering the drivers we are ahead of in this qualifying and how the free practice sessions went. We were close to a McLaren and ahead of both Sauber and Williams, so I think that’s where we stand given our current form. As for tomorrow, I would love to be back in the points and the tires should produce some surprises, which could work in our favor.
Jean-Eric Vergne – 16th and 16th:
« This was a strange session for me, as I set my best lap in Q1 with the Hards. Then, on the Mediums, which are supposed to be faster, I was unable to improve my time. The car seems to have changed a lot this weekend and we need to find out why. At least, looking at my lap time on the Hards, it’s not so bad, but there’s something we don’t understand with the Mediums. We can’t say the car is bad, so I think we’ll do better tomorrow, where there will be many opportunities in the race. »
