Sunday: Hülkenberg scores his first points with Sauber
At the end of his first Grand Prix with the Sauber team, Nico Hülkenberg scores his first points for the Swiss team, exactly 4 for 8th place at the finish. Esteban Gutiérrez, on the other hand, finishes outside the points, but he was satisfied with his performance at Sepang.
Nico Hülkenberg – 8th:
I feel rewarded to finish with 4 points after my first race of the season in a new team and with a new car. I am quite happy with how it went, especially at the start of the race when we were very fast with the intermediates. But then I found myself in traffic and couldn’t overtake the other drivers. I think this 8th place is well deserved, considering our struggles today. I think the potential is there, and we now need to work on a few details.
Esteban Gutiérrez – 12th:
This 12th place is a good result, but ideally, we would have liked to finish in the points. At the end of the race, we lost a lot of time because we stayed on the same set of tires for too long. We tried to change strategy and I did my best. It was all we could do at that moment. Overall, the weekend is a step forward and we need to keep working and put everything together to score points.
