Sunday: No Force India at the finish in Sepang
Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta were unable to see the finish of the Malaysian Grand Prix due to a nut problem during their various pit stops. As a precaution, the Sahara Force India team decided not to let them continue on the track. Both men intend to take their revenge in the upcoming rounds, starting with China in three weeks.
Adrian Sutil – Retirement:
« A very quick end to a race that promised us so much. Both our cars had the same problem with the wheel nut, and it cost us a lot of time in the pits. We are not yet sure what happened, so the team decided to stop both cars to understand the problem. It’s a shame this happened here because we had a very fast single-seater today and I felt really comfortable as the track was drying. We need to stay positive, keep our heads up, and remember that there are still plenty of races left where we can make up for today’s disappointment. »
Paul di Resta – Retirement:
« It’s frustrating to leave empty-handed considering the competitiveness demonstrated throughout the weekend. We saw an issue during Adrian’s first stop when I was behind him, which cost me about 15 seconds, and then I had the same wheel nut issue during my second stop. As a precaution, the team decided to retire the car. The good news is we have a competitive car, but it’s clearly a missed opportunity because we had the potential to score a lot of points today. We’ll move on and come back fighting in China. »
