Friday: We will need to make up for lost time tomorrow at Sauber
The Sauber drivers experienced a difficult first day of testing in Malaysia, with Nico Hülkenberg unable to make long runs and Esteban Gutiérrez experiencing some mechanical issues. Both men remain confident for tomorrow, even though they know they'll have to work hard before qualifying.
Nico Hülkenberg – 14th and 13th:
« Overall, it has been a difficult Friday. I don’t know what to make of it at the moment. I think we have a lot to do before the next session tomorrow. It has been difficult because I haven’t been able to do a real long run because of the weather. I think we still have the potential in terms of car balance, and we have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 15th and 14th:
« From the point of view of settings, it was a very productive day. We were able to improve the car’s balance between the first and second session. Then unfortunately, we had several issues, but we managed to get back on track to use the time we had left. I didn’t have time to do a good stint with the mediums, but driving a few laps in the rain and then in changing conditions was very positive. Tomorrow, we will have to make up for the time lost today. »
