Friday: Hülkenberg hopes to get Sauber into Q3
Today in Melbourne, it was the first time that the teams drove under high temperatures. These initial tests were therefore a discovery for Sauber, which is doing well even though it is not yet at its best level. Nico Hülkenberg believes that the Top 10 will be within reach in qualifying.
Nico Hülkenberg – 12th and 10th:
In general, it was a tricky day. During the first day, there are always things you need to improve. I think we still have work ahead of us. Free practice 2 was difficult for me because of the traffic. I think we can improve our times. We collected a lot of data for the tires, and if we do our homework well, we should be able to aim for the top 10 in qualifying tomorrow.
Esteban Gutierrez – 16th and 15th:
« It was a very productive day. The tires are performing better than in Barcelona. As a team, we still need to find a bit of speed, which means I also need to find some as a driver. I’ve improved between the two sessions. Now I’m going to focus on doing better in qualifying tomorrow. »
