Friday: Vettel and Red Bull Between Confidence and Caution
If the day was rather calm and productive for Red Bull, the drivers don't want to appear too confident, partly due to Saturday's weather forecasts, which might predict rain for the qualifications and could disrupt the emerging hierarchy.
Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 1st
Overall, it was a good day for us. It was seamless and there were no problems with the car. After all the running during the tests, it was fun to be here – the circuit is not easy, it’s a good challenge. The supersoft tires don’t last very long, but the medium tires are a decent compound. The weather could be variable tomorrow and, as we cannot predict how it will impact the tires and the balance of the car, we must be ready to change things. Today, it was a good day and the balance was good, but we must be ready for what lies ahead.
Mark Webber – 5th and 2nd:
« It wasn’t a bad day and we gathered a lot of information. It was great to have some sunshine on the circuit after Barcelona, where we had overcast conditions. We needed to correlate a lot of data collected in Europe and it went very well. We still have a lot to do tonight and we expect more overcast weather tomorrow, so we need to be ready. Overall, it was very positive for us, but there are still areas to improve. »
