Todt would like to chair the FIA beyond 2013

Former sporting director of Scuderia Ferrari, Jean Todt was elected President of the FIA in 2009. The man who had managed to make the Italian team win after a long unsuccessful period had run against former rally driver and European MP Ari Vatanen. Todt won hands down with the significant support of a certain Bernie Ecclestone.

As his term is about to end, due to conclude in December of this year, Jean Todt does not hide his desire to run again. In this context, he has already received the support of numerous national American federations: When people representing a collective such as North America, South America, and Central America tell you with one voice that you should run, it is clear that when making his decision, it will be easier to continue on his path. It’s clear that this weighs heavily in my reflection.

Todt even clarifies his ambition: « The FIA is a big, complicated machine, but I believe that one of its main strengths is the quality of the people who make it up. There’s still a long way to go, but if you have a team behind you pushing you to keep going, it obviously makes you want to continue. »

No other candidacy has yet been revealed for the FIA elective assembly to be held in December 2013.
