Gutiérrez is eager to start the season
Esteban Gutiérrez, new Sauber driver for the upcoming season, will make his Formula 1 debut in Australia in about two weeks. After preseason testing that went well, the Mexican is eager to start the season.
After several years of absence, Mexico will be represented this year by two drivers: Sergio Pérez, who joined McLaren this winter, and Esteban Gutiérrez, who will make his grand debut in the discipline with the Sauber team.
After a mandatory learning period, he now feels at ease and ready to tackle his first race weekend: « The pre-season tests have been good. I’ve been working for three years to get myself in this position, so everything I’ve done so far has been quite natural. I want to give the best possible technical feedback to the engineers, and concentration is key in all of this. »
Gutiérrez is really eager to start the season and experience strong emotions for his first Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia next month: « At this time, almost at the end of the first tests of the season, I think everyone wants to start racing and is hungry for competition. At least, that’s what I strongly feel. I can’t wait any longer for the adrenaline, my first qualifying session, and my first start! »
However, he does not lose sight of his objectives: « I need to stay consistent and try to score points. I want to be there if the opportunity arises. »
