Caterham will present the CT03 on February 5th in Jerez
The Caterham team will unveil its 2013 car, named CT03, on February 5 in Jerez just before the start of winter testing.
Caterham team announced that it would present its Formula 1 car – which will eventually be named CT03 and not CT02, as expected – on the very day of the start of winter testing. The car from the Leafield team will indeed be presented on February 5th at 08:45 in the pit lane of the Circuit de Jerez de la Frontera.
Caterham has therefore succeeded, like the teams Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus, Mercedes, Sauber, and Toro Rosso – and [unlike Williams](link) – in finishing their car in time for these initial tests. It is the second consecutive year that the Malaysian team has managed to design their car quickly enough to be able to participate in all the pre-season testing days.
After its presentation, the CT03 will immediately take to the track for the first day of private testing of the season. However, one unknown remains: the name of the driver who will have this honor, especially since, for now, only Charles Pic has been confirmed as a main driver. The Frenchman is still waiting to learn the name of his future teammate. This spot alongside the former Marussia driver is contested between Giedo Van der Garde, Bruno Senna, and Vitaly Petrov, with Heikki Kovalainen seemingly out of the running according to the recent statements by Mike Gascoyne, former technical director of Caterham F1 and current head of the technical division of the Caterham Group.
