Ricciardo wants to be as aggressive as Grosjean

After several Grand Prix races for the HRT team, Daniel Ricciardo returned to the Red Bull fold with the Scuderia Toro Rosso. Even though he was outscored by Jean-Eric Vergne in 2012, the Australian driver hopes to do better next season.

His goal for the continuation of his career is to move from Toro Rosso to Red Bull in 2014, and he knows that to achieve this, he will need to elevate his level of play in 2013, as he told the Italian magazine Autosprint: « I am aware of this, and I know that my goal for 2013 will be to be more ambitious. I’m not going to hide it, and I must and can secure a podium. I will do my utmost to achieve this. »

To achieve this goal, Ricciardo has a small idea of what he’s missing: aggressiveness, even admitting that he should be as aggressive as Romain Grosjean, often criticized in 2012 for his accidents: « My Achilles’ heel is that this year [in 2012], in the first part of the season, I wasn’t aggressive enough during races. In a way, I was the opposite of Grosjean. Now, however, I know that I’ve found the right balance to demonstrate my abilities. »

The Australian driver also revealed that he has already seen the STR8 and he has great hopes for his 2013 ride: « I can tell you that I’ve already seen it and, upon closer inspection, it’s very different from the previous one. I think it will be better than the one I raced with this year [in 2012]. »
