Barrichello considers a return to F1 unlikely
After leaving Formula 1 at the end of the 2011 season and spending 2012 in IndyCar, Rubens Barrichello would like to return to the F1 World Championship grids, but he believes it is unlikely to happen.
Rubens Barrichello was present this weekend in the paddock at the Interlagos circuit for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the final race of the 2012 Formula 1 season. The presence of the Brazilian driver in Austin last week and in Brazil this weekend led some to think that Barrichello was there to talk with teams about a seat for 2013.
But the former Jordan, Stewart, Ferrari, Honda, Brawn, and Williams driver told Auto Motor und Sport that there is little chance of seeing him on the Formula 1 grids in 2013: « I don’t know if I will be driving in IndyCar next year. [But it will] certainly not be with my former team KV Racing Technology. Everyone wants money. In F1, my chances [of returning] are practically nil. »
Barrichello also spoke about potential discussions with Caterham, confiding to the Brazilian publication Tazio: « These are just rumors. That always happens. In F1, they are always looking for information that doesn’t exist. […] I had just come [to the Caterham garage] to see Heikki Kovalainen. »
