Sunday: Disappointment is prevalent at Marussia
The Marussia team lost the 10th place in the constructors' championship today in Brazil, and everyone in the Russian team is disappointed about it. Timo Glock struggled, especially after his contact with Vergne, while in his last race with the team, Charles Pic gave it his all, eventually finishing 12th.
Charles Pic – 12th:
« Even if the outcome is disappointing, I think today was one of my best races for the team. Our strategy was right, and I attacked throughout the race. The conditions were not easy; it was very slippery, but our car was well-balanced, and we fought the best we could. But in the end, unfortunately, we lost. A big thank you to everyone in the team for a fantastic first season in Formula 1. We worked hard all year, and I wish the team the best for next season. »
Timo Glock – 16th:
« There’s not much to say really; the result speaks for itself, and we were unlucky today. It’s truly a shame for everyone associated with the team because we’ve worked very hard together to come this far. It’s so sad to lose the 10th place like that because we were holding it and had everything to stay ahead of the others. Unfortunately, Vergne hit the back of my car, and that destroyed my race because it was just after the restart, and I had to go back through the pits while the flags were green. I rejoined at the back of the pack, and we struggled from there, but there wasn’t much we could do.
This clearly shows how much everything can change under such conditions. I think it’s important to look back in a comprehensive way because the 10th place is lost, but no one can take away what we have built with this team. We must remain as strong and motivated as possible and move on quickly because we have shown everyone that we can succeed when luck is not a factor. Next year, with KERS, we will be even better. A big thank you to all the people who take care of my car and to the whole team, who all feel disappointed at the moment. We will be back for sure. And finally, congratulations to Sebastian (Vettel) for winning the championship and my best wishes to Michael (Schumacher) for the future.
