Saturday: HRT drivers will try to finish on a high note
Narain Karthikeyan was rather pleased with his qualifying and hopes for a race in the rain tomorrow. Pedro de la Rosa, on the other hand, was less fortunate following an accident with Romain Grosjean, whom he holds responsible. But the Spanish driver will do his best tomorrow.
Narain Karthikeyan – 23rd and 23rd:
This morning, we did a good job with the car and the fact that the track temperatures were lower than yesterday also helped to reduce tire degradation. But before qualifying, it started to rain, and we weren’t sure whether to go out on intermediates or slicks. Even though the track was wet, we decided to fit the slicks and, even though it was difficult at first, it was the right thing to do. We struggled to get the tires properly heated up, but I’m satisfied with the final outcome. Personally, I would prefer the race to take place in the rain, but whatever the conditions, we will do our best as we always have.
Pedro de la Rosa – 22nd and 24th:
« The track was wet when we went out, but we had decided to go for a run on the dry because the dry line was quickly forming. The first laps were quite complicated, but it improved towards the end. However, I am not happy with how the qualifying session ended. Our car was competitive, and we certainly could have done better, but I was on a fast lap when I was hit by another car. It was a dangerous maneuver because I couldn’t move over given the track conditions. As a result of the impact, the rear suspension was twisted, and I also suffered a puncture. I came in to put on a new set of mediums, and fortunately, I managed to set an additional lap to improve my time. I really hope the car isn’t too damaged because the race is tomorrow, and I want to be able to give my best to end the season on a high note. »
