Friday: Work Ahead at Marussia
The days of the Marussia drivers followed an opposite trend: while Timo Glock faced difficulties in FP1 before experiencing a slight but insufficient improvement afterwards, Charles Pic encountered an alternator problem in FP2, prematurely ending his day of discovering the Interlagos track.
Timo Glock – 20th and 22nd:
« It was a difficult start to the weekend, to be honest. As usual, it’s all about the tires and we’ve experienced slightly different behavior here as well. We had a bit of oversteer this morning with the car, which was better in FP2. However, at the end of the day, we were still struggling with the car’s balance. Overall, we are focusing more on race pace and are not doing much for qualifying yet, so we have work to do tonight when we will try to improve the car and hopefully make it faster. »
Charles Pic – 22nd and 23rd:
« The day started well for me, and I completed some aerodynamic tests while acclimating to the last of the new circuits for me. This afternoon, we were more focused on setup work and tire behavior in race conditions. We were unable to get a good read on the medium tires and, unfortunately, before the end of the session, I had to withdraw because we encountered an alternator issue. I’m happy with my pace on long stints but we still have work to do to improve our qualifying pace. »
