Friday: Mercedes still focused on 2013
In uncertainty both in the short term, regarding the weather for Sunday, and in the medium term, regarding the 2013 season, Mercedes navigates between two streams, with Nico Rosberg focusing on gathering data for the next season and Michael Schumacher slowly approaching his retirement.
Michael Schumacher – 11th and 6th:
« It was a reasonably good day, and we followed our program. However, the current predictions for Sunday are rainy, so it might be a completely different scenario. Therefore, we need to see what we can do with the data collected today and turn it into a good qualification and, even better, a good race. »
Nico Rosberg – 18th and 7th:
« It was a decent Friday for us. There were difficult conditions due to the high track temperatures and altitude that prevent finding the right balance. However, we managed quite well and the pace is good, especially on the long runs. So I hope we can do better here than in previous races. But it will be tough for us, and our focus is still on learning and understanding for 2013. »
