The scenarios for Vettel or Alonso’s title victory in Brazil

Sebastian Vettel did not manage to gain enough points on Fernando Alonso in Austin to clinch the title before the final race, which will take place this weekend at Interlagos. And the fact that the title will be decided in this finale delights Bernie Ecclestone, the F1’s major financier.

He ironically told Christian Horner in Austin while he was being interviewed: “Thank you very much. That’s really kind. Very well planned.” He even added to the journalists present: “As you can see, everything is arranged.”

The former F1 driver, former driver manager and former F1 team director was particularly delighted to see that the title will be decided at the last meeting of the season: « This is what every fan wants … and I do too. »

There is therefore only one Grand Prix left to be contested for this 2012 Formula 1 season, and it’s an opportunity to list the different scenarios that will allow Sebastian Vettel or Fernando Alonso to clinch a third Formula 1 world championship title on the Interlagos track.

Sebastian Vettel will be the 2012 Formula 1 World Champion in Brazil if:

He secures it, finishes 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, regardless of Fernando Alonso’s result;

He finishes 5th, 6th, or 7th and Fernando Alonso does no better than 2nd;

He finishes 8th or 9th and Fernando Alonso does no better than 3rd;

He finishes 10th or out of the points, and Fernando Alonso does not do better than 4th.

Fernando Alonso will be the 2012 Formula 1 World Champion in Brazil if:

He asserts himself and Sebastian Vettel does no better than 5th.

He finishes 2nd and Sebastian Vettel does not do better than 8th;

He finishes 3rd and Sebastian Vettel does no better than 10th.
