Official: Ferrari confirms Massa’s penalty

The rumor had been growing since the early afternoon, it is now confirmed: Ferrari has announced that it broke the seals on Felipe Massa’s gearbox after the qualifying session. This will result in a five-place grid penalty for the Paulista, dropping him to 11th position.
This unspecified issue allows Hülkenberg, Alonso, Grosjean, Maldonado, and Senna to gain a position, but more importantly, it enables the Spaniard and his teammate to start on the clean side of the track, which seems to be an undeniable advantage on this new circuit.
