Friday: Red Bull and Vettel still have some tricks up their sleeves
After a rather dominating day, Sebastian Vettel, who suffered a breakdown during FP2, is not resting on his laurels and hopes to further improve his Red Bull. Meanwhile, Mark Webber is satisfied with the work brought on by arriving at a new track.
Sebastian Vettel – 1st and 1st:
« It was slippery this morning, a bit like ice driving. It wasn’t so easy, but we managed to keep up with the pace. We had a few issues this afternoon, and we couldn’t drive as much as we wanted, but we did two good stints, which is important for tomorrow and Sunday. I think there were a few surprises today in terms of pace, so we’ll see tomorrow. The track is constantly improving: it is good to be among the guys at the front, now we will try to improve the car to make sure we stay there. »
Mark Webber – 5th and 2nd:
« It’s a very good track, it’s fast, especially in the first sector which is almost completely flat out, although sectors two and three are more traditional and similar to other circuits. It was very slippery at first, which was quite frustrating for all of us probably, but in the end, the track rubbered in well and we found the right rhythm. As with all new circuits, you have to work on where to improve your time and where to place the compromise. It’s a bit of everything, really, so it’s good. »
