Friday: Schumacher takes the time to adapt at Mercedes

Nico Rosberg – 9th and 7th:

« I really like this new track here at the Circuit of the Americas, they’ve done a great job with the layout. We’ve also received a really warm welcome for Formula 1 in the United States and you can see there are a lot of fans in the stands for a Friday. The stands seemed really full. We’ve started our program well today and the car seemed better than in the last race. The conditions were tricky, especially this morning, because it was very cold, which meant the tires were really on the edge. »

Michael Schumacher – 17th and 10th:

« I must say it’s good to be back in the United States, and I hope the fans also appreciate that F1 is back. The circuit will surely help demonstrate just how attractive our sport can be. There is a very beautiful layout, and the good thing is that it’s a challenge. Yesterday, I went out to examine the track on a scooter, and it was very different today, when the low position in our cars slightly compromised our vision. But despite that, it just took a little time to understand what you need to do and where the biggest difficulties are. The track is still very green, especially off the racing line, but there’s a chance that this will bring some spectacle. As for our program today, we had some tire problems during the second session with a puncture that somewhat affected our plans. However, I will just do my best tomorrow and during the race on Sunday. »
