A set of hard tires to discover the Circuit of the Americas
The twelve Formula 1 teams will discover the Circuit of the Americas this weekend and they will have an additional set of hard tires in order to be able to drive more than usual.
Pirelli has decided to bring medium and hard tires for the return of Formula 1 to the United States, on the Circuit of the Americas track near Austin, Texas. The track is new for everyone and even though Pirelli has conducted simulations and was able to test tire wear using asphalt samples, the Italian manufacturer has decided not to take too many risks by choosing the hardest tires in its range.
To get accustomed to this new circuit, the teams will likely try to drive as much as possible, and to assist them in this, Pirelli will provide an additional set of hard tires, as announced by the Italian manufacturer in its statement presenting this event.
Note that this additional train can only be used by teams on Friday, the day when teams test their cars with different settings and fuel loads to prepare for qualifying and the race.
