The HRT team is looking for a new owner
The HRT team might change hands, as Thesan Capital, its owner, is currently in talks with several potential buyers for the Spanish F1 team and a sale could occur in the coming weeks.
The HRT F1 Team, present in Formula 1 since 2010, could change ownership for the third time. Indeed, when the project was submitted to the FIA under the name Campos Meta1, it was Adrian Campos who was in charge, but at the beginning of 2010, he saw his team being bought by José Ramon Carabante.
The latter, owner of a company called Hispania, renamed the team Hispania Racing F1 Team, which was often abbreviated as HRT. On July 4, 2011, the Spanish team changed ownership again following its acquisition by the Madrid-based investment fund, Thesan Capital. The latter permanently renamed the team HRT.
Today, the Spanish team released a statement on its website indicating that Thesan Capital is currently in negotiations with several companies interested in acquiring the team, and this could happen in the coming weeks.
« The current owners of the HRT Formula 1 team, Thesan Capital, would like to confirm that they are currently in discussions with several groups interested in acquiring the team. The current officials of the HRT Formula 1 team hope to conclude the sale in the coming weeks and thus allow the team to continue to progress and become a benchmark in current Formula 1 after the significant achievements already accomplished during this 2012 season. The HRT team hopes to announce the name of its new owner in the coming weeks, » explains the team in a statement published on its website.
