Sunday: Glock happy, engine problem for Pic at Marussia

Charles Pic could not see the checkered flag in Abu Dhabi due to a problem with the air system of his Cosworth engine, but the Frenchman still enjoyed his race, just like Timo Glock, even though the German suffered from a lack of aerodynamic performance after damaging his front wing in a contact with his teammate.

Sunday: Glock happy, engine problem for Pic at Marussia

Timo Glock – 14th:

« After a difficult qualifying session yesterday, today went much better for us, and we had a good race pace. Unfortunately, on the first lap, I was behind Charles and touched the back of his car, which cost me some aerodynamic performance in the first stint. I tried to stay with Heikki (Kovalainen), but he was faster in the first sector because of the understeer I was suffering from, but at least I was able to widen the gap with Petrov behind me and stay ahead the whole race. We had a fantastic pit stop and good top speed compared to others; we had some mid-field drivers behind us for a while and even though they eventually got through, we were able to have a brief fight with them. It was a nice battle with Sergio Pérez on the last lap and even with DRS, we couldn’t pass. A good end to the weekend overall, and we now look forward to the last two races. »

Charles Pic – Withdrawal [Engine Air System]

« It was a tough but exciting race today. The first lap was a real challenge as I was battling with Timo (Glock) and the Caterhams, so a lot happened in the first corners. Unfortunately, I ended up going too wide and found myself behind them. From there, I still had a great battle with Vitaly (Petrov) and almost overtook him several times. Unfortunately, we couldn’t compete with his KERS. Our pit stop wasn’t perfect, which is a shame because a good stop could have allowed us to pass him. Overall, I’m thrilled that we had a great fight with a Caterham; it’s just a shame to have to retire due to an engine problem. I must say it has been a very positive weekend, so we must focus on that and look forward to the next two races where I’ll discover two new tracks—the next one being new for everyone, which will be exciting, I think. »
