Sunday: Di Resta places Sahara Force India in the points

Despite his involvement in an incident in the first corner, followed by a puncture that put him at the back of the pack, Paul di Resta expertly managed the safety car interventions to climb back up the ranks. He finished 9th, earning two points for Sahara Force India. Nico Hülkenberg, on the other hand, saw his race end in the first corner.

Sunday: Di Resta places Sahara Force India in the points

Paul di Resta – 9th:

What a tumultuous race for me but I’m happy to finish with some points considering how the race unfolded. I’m not sure what happened at the first corner because I had a good start and got ahead of Nico, but as I exited the corner, I immediately realized I had a puncture. That cost me some ground, but the first safety car intervention put me back in the game. We were going to try to go to the end without stopping and I was 5th at one point, but with the second safety car intervention, the team brought me in to fit new tires. In the last laps, our pace was really good and I was able to pass the Toro Rossos, but I couldn’t get ahead of Senna. He was in the DRS zone of Massa and I couldn’t attempt anything so I kept my 9th place.

Nico Hülkenberg – Retirement [Accident]:

I got off to a bad start and had a poor momentum until the first corner. Then, I was sandwiched by the cars around me. I think my teammate, a Sauber, and a Williams were around me, and there wasn’t enough space. I tried to give some room, but it was too late. There was contact with several cars and my race was over.
