Saturday: Charles Pic brings a smile to Marussia

Charles Pic, by getting within a tenth of Heikki Kovalainen's Caterham, achieved the best performance of the season for the Marussia team, despite considering his lap not perfect. Timo Glock, on the other hand, experienced a sudden loss of grip in his final lap.

Saturday: Charles Pic brings a smile to Marussia

Charles Pic – 21st and 20th:

« I’m really very happy with my qualifications today. I had a very good car: the balance was almost perfect. I lost a little bit of time in the second sector of my fast lap and that’s why Kovalainen was able to get ahead of me. I still have to be happy with the lap because it represents my best qualifying result of the season, so it’s a great result for me and for the team. I have to say thank you to the team working on my car because they worked late last night, but I hope today they have the reward for their efforts. I’m looking forward to the race tomorrow; the start could be quite interesting with the cars around me. I also hope that I will be able to make some progress like we did in India and continue to improve throughout the race. The goal is still to stay in contact with the Caterham. »

Timo Glock – 20th and 22nd:

« It’s not a bad day overall, but it’s a disappointing end when it counts, unfortunately. This morning, at the start of Free Practice 3, we struggled a bit, but in the end, we achieved good settings. We maintained them during qualifying, and it seemed to work until the last lap, the most important, when the car lost grip. Until then, we were fighting hard with the Caterham, so it’s a little disappointing. Now, we have to conduct the usual analyses tonight and see what we can find for tomorrow.
