Saturday: Mercedes couldn’t do more
Nico Rosberg aimed for 8th place on the grid and the Mercedes driver achieved his goal. However, he expects a complicated race. Michael Schumacher, on the other hand, made a costly mistake in Q2 and will start 14th but will still try to climb up the ranks to pick up some points.
Nico Rosberg – 13th and 8th:
The qualifying session went well for us today as 8th place was our goal and we managed to secure it. I’m ahead of a Ferrari and a Lotus, so it’s a good step forward, and we’ve made some improvements with our settings this weekend. A big thank you to my mechanics who did a great job fixing a brake issue just before qualifying and ensuring the car was ready on time. It won’t be easy for us to move up the field tomorrow but I’m looking forward to the race to see what we can achieve.
Michael Schumacher – 14th and 14th:
« My qualifying session didn’t really go as planned today. We slightly changed our approach for the last Q2 stint, and I couldn’t capitalize on it in the first sector, especially in the first corner. So we aren’t really where we wanted to qualify, but I’m definitely going to do my best tomorrow given my starting position. »
