Schumacher: A Mercedes F1 W03 as a gift?
Michael Schumacher, who will end his "second" career in Formula 1 at the end of the 2012 season, could be offered a Formula 1 car as a farewell gift from Mercedes.
Michael Schumacher will, in all likelihood, race his 309th and final Formula 1 Grand Prix in Brazil at the end of November. According to the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, the seven-time world champion might be offered a nice farewell gift from the Mercedes team.
Schumacher could indeed inherit one of the Silver Arrows with which he participated in the 2012 Formula 1 season – a single-seater reportedly worth a cool million euros according to the German publication.
When asked which one he would like to receive, Michael Schumacher replied: “Clearly the one from Monaco.” As a reminder, he had set the fastest time in the qualifying session in Monaco, even if he did not start from pole position due to a 5-place penalty imposed for colliding with Bruno Senna’s Williams during the Spanish Grand Prix, held a week earlier.
When asked if the F1 W03 wasn’t too ugly – considering its “platypus nose”, Schumacher admitted: « Visually, because of the curve of the nose, it will take a little time to get used to it! »
