Räikkönen: “Continuing with Lotus was obvious”

This morning, the team Lotus F1 officially announced the renewal of Kimi Räikkönen for an additional season through a video posted on its website. A logical choice for the Finn who had retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2009 championship before making a comeback at the beginning of this year.

« I think my return to Formula 1 went pretty well and the team has done a very good job so far. I feel very good with Lotus and we share the same racing philosophy. Continuing with the team was an obvious choice for me and I look forward to taking another step forward next year, » responded the Finnish driver.

Eric Boulier, the head of the English team, obviously shares the joy of his driver: Kimi made an exceptional return to Formula 1. As soon as he got in the car, it was clear that he had lost none of his pace or technical feedback, and we have been rewarded with a focused and motivated driver throughout the season. It is a natural conclusion for us to confirm that we will once again benefit from his abilities next season.

Kimi Räikkönen is currently in third place in the provisional world championship standings behind Vettel and Alonso. Since Melbourne, the Finn has been on the podium six times and has finished outside the points only once, which was in China due to significant tire wear. Having successfully returned to the category, Räikkönen will undoubtedly be eager to climb back to the top step of the podium in 2013.
