Saturday: Karthikeyan Unlucky Again with HRT
If the session went smoothly for Pedro de la Rosa, who nonetheless notes a performance deficit on his HRT, Narain Karthikeyan suffered a brake disc failure, which prevented him from completing a single timed lap.
Pedro de la Rosa – 24th and 23rd [22nd on the grid]:
« We had a more than acceptable qualification, especially the second lap which was very good. But we had a lot of understeering and, as a result, we were unable to complete a perfect lap. The difference with our rivals is not what we expected, but it seems that on this circuit, their cars perform better than ours. In any case, I am satisfied with the qualification and even more with our pace on the soft tires. Tomorrow, as always, we will give our best, but we must continue to work to catch up with our rivals. »
Narain Karthikeyan – 23rd and 24th [23rd on the grid]:
« We were in a pretty good position after the third practice session because I had adapted very well to the circuit and the car was working very well. But, once again, I was unlucky this season and we had a mechanical problem on the first lap. We now have to analyze the problem to fix it and prevent it from happening again. Tomorrow, we’ll try to regain the positive vibes. »
