Friday: Marussia in great difficulty at Yeongam
If the first free practice sessions were rather correct for the Russian team, it was not the case in Free Practice 2 where the team did not progress, particularly due to a behavior deemed "strange" from the red and black car.
Timo Glock – 20th and 20th:
« It’s not an easy first day for us in Korea. I think we had a decent pace in FP1 but the car’s behavior was already a bit tricky this morning. In FP2, we weren’t really able to make progress. The rest of the cars on the track made a step forward and, unfortunately, not us, so we need to find out why we can’t improve the car’s strange behavior so far. We have to closely look at the data and see what we can find there, because it’s limiting our car’s pace at the moment. Finding the problem tonight won’t be easy, but the car needs to be better tomorrow so it’s a challenge for us. »
Charles Pic – 21st and 21st:
« In the first free practice sessions this morning, I found that my first experience on this track is quite positive. We did a good job on the new floor to compare the data with those from Suzuka while I was learning the track and gaining speed. This afternoon, I was less comfortable with the steering. As we were unable to progress without changing something, and indeed the car was very difficult to drive, we decided to change the steering rack, even though it meant less time on the track. The change was positive, but the car was still not as we wanted, so we have work to do to understand why. »
