New Jersey does not have a contract for 2013
The Grand Prix of the Americas might not take place in 2013 in New Jersey according to Bernie Ecclestone, who explained that the organizers no longer had a contract binding them to F1.
There have been numerous statements in recent months about the Grand Prix of the Americas, which is set to take place in New Jersey starting next year. Bernie Ecclestone has repeatedly said that the race was uncertain, however, it was present on the first draft of the 2013 calendar recently revealed, following the Canadian Grand Prix in June.
But the F1’s chief financial officer recently told the Guardian that the organizers of the American event did not have a contract because they did not meet the terms and conditions of the agreement between the two parties.
The calendar for the 2013 season is expected to be reviewed at the World Motor Sport Council of F1, which is set to take place this Friday. Even though today the race seems to be under threat, Ecclestone has admitted that things could still change: “We are quite close to the deadline. We have the World Council coming up. I think if someone helps them, it could happen for 2013 because they have done a lot of work regarding the track.”
