Sunday: Rosberg makes Mercedes’ strategy work

Nico Rosberg perfectly implemented the strategy planned by the Mercedes AMG team to move up the ranks. Starting from 10th place on the grid, the German driver finished in 5th place, notably ahead of the Lotus cars. Michael Schumacher, on the other hand, had to retire after colliding with Vergne's Toro Rosso.

Sunday: Rosberg makes Mercedes’ strategy work

Nico Rosberg – 5th:

« Everything worked well for me tonight for the first time in what seemed like a long time! Finishing in 5th place after starting 10th is a good result, and I’m happy to have scored points for myself and the team. It’s also nice to have stayed ahead of both Lotus cars, which I didn’t expect before the race. Saving a new set of tires during yesterday’s qualifying turned out to be the right strategy as I got a good start and had a good first stint. Thanks to the team for that and for making the right choices during the race today. Now, I’m looking forward to Japan and the opportunity to further improve our car. »

Michael Schumacher – Retirement:

« This was obviously a very unfortunate end to my race tonight when I collided with Vergne’s car, who immediately accepted my apologies. I’m not sure why it happened; I braked but the deceleration wasn’t as strong as usual, and I couldn’t avoid the car in front of me. We will have to understand what happened. Until then, I think it was possible to score some points. »
