Saturday: Maldonado rekindles the Williams flame in Singapore
The master pyrotechnician at Williams once again made headlines by unexpectedly grabbing the second spot on the starting grid. Having made another costly mistake to his vehicle, Bruno Senna, who was too aggressive, destroyed all his chances of qualifying well right at the start of Q2.
Pastor Maldonado – 16th and 2nd:
« We worked very hard as we struggled at the beginning of this weekend. We continued to improve during qualifying and found the right balance with the car. I was then able to put in a good lap in Q3 and I knew we could be at the front.
I’m really looking forward to the race as we have shown consistent pace on long runs during testing. We have everything we need to be competitive tomorrow, so it should be a good race for us.
Bruno Senna – 9th and 17th:
It wasn’t an ideal day. I was pushing really hard to get a good lap, but I went over the limit. This place doesn’t really forgive, so we broke the rear suspension. Unfortunately, that put an early end to my qualifying, but we must focus on tomorrow.
We have an extra set of new tires, which I think everyone will need. We have a good car and the race is long. It’s not easy to overtake here, but we’ve started from the back before. I will need to push really hard to come away with points tomorrow.
