Saturday – Di Resta makes Force India dream of the podium
After delivering a strong performance on Saturday in Monza but unable to capitalize the next day due to a 5-place penalty, Paul di Resta repeats in Singapore by setting a very good 6th fastest time. His teammate wasn't as fortunate, but from 11th place on the grid, he can hope to score points. Vijay Mallya, meanwhile, even dreams of the podium.
Paul di Resta – 7th and 6th:
« I was very happy with the car’s balance yesterday but had some issues this afternoon during the last practice session. We had to start from scratch to find our rhythm during the qualifications, and we managed to set a good lap when it mattered in Q3. In fact, it was my best lap of the weekend. So, we are in a good position for tomorrow and hope we can leave with big points. We seemed quite competitive yesterday during the long runs, so we will focus on strategy tonight and ensure we make the right tire choices tomorrow. »
Nico Hülkenberg – 4th and 11th:
« We had a car capable of reaching Q3 today, so I’m disappointed to miss the top 10. I just couldn’t find the right rhythm in Q2 and my lap wasn’t good enough. I made a few small mistakes that cost me time and a place in Q3. Now I have to focus on doing the maximum tomorrow and do what we can with the strategy. Starting 11th means I have the choice of tires and we have seen that tire performance and degradation will be an important factor during the race. I need to get a good start, get through the first lap without issues and see what I can do. »
