Friday: New features that work at Mercedes
The Mercedes AMG team brought some new developments to Singapore - new exhausts in particular - and Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg expressed satisfaction with the performance of their cars. However, both men know that the hierarchy on this Friday is not necessarily indicative of the true performance of the different cars.
Nico Rosberg – 18th and 8th:
« It has been a busy day for us as we had to learn a lot about our new parts. It always takes time to understand how things really work on the car, and there’s a lot of data gathered today to study tonight. Overall, I feel we’ve made progress, but it’s still too early to make predictions about how the weekend might unfold. »
Michael Schumacher – 14th and 11th:
« We had two productive practice sessions today, but we still didn’t get a clear picture (in terms of performance). We will need to carefully study the data tonight to extract the true performances. We ran with new parts today, and the car felt good, although at the end of the second session, I had a small brake issue and had to stop. We now have a lot of work to do in front of our computers to find out what our chances will be this weekend. »
