Friday: The Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers are having a blast
The Toro Rosso drivers love the Singapore track and say so: while Daniel Ricciardo highlights the inconsistency of his car between the two sessions, Jean-Eric Vergne considers himself to be improving on a circuit he is discovering.
Daniel Ricciardo – 9th and 14th:
« This is not a common circuit, with the night and the atmosphere of this unique rendezvous. It’s great to have a change; Jean-Eric and I had a discussion after the first session and we both agreed that we enjoyed it! I felt that the first session was better than the first and the modifications we made before FP2 didn’t seem to align with the evolution of the circuit. So, we need to think about what we can do to be closer to the top 10 as we were in the first session. But trying things, whether they work or not, is what Fridays are for. Regarding the tires, the super-soft are naturally faster and the soft have logically been more consistent over a long run. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 17th and 18th:
« It’s definitely the hardest new circuit I’ve come to this season, with so many corners and the fact is it’s really hot. I really loved this brand new experience of racing on a street circuit at night, but at first I made a lot of mistakes on what was a very long lap. But I’m getting used to it, I brought the car back in one piece and I know I can improve tomorrow. Overall, the car wasn’t too bad, so I think if we can improve it a little and if I learn my lines a bit better, there will be more to come for the rest of the weekend. »
