Sunday: It’s better than nothing for Force India
Force India undoubtedly hoped for better than Paul di Resta's final 8th place, considering the form shown in qualifying. Unfortunately, issues with the Medium tires did not allow the Scot to do better, while Hülkenberg had to return to the pits due to brake problems.
Paul di Resta – 8th:
At the beginning of the weekend, I probably would have signed up for an eighth place, but when you consider our qualifying pace yesterday, we certainly had high hopes for the race. I had issues at the start due to the fuel weight, and I didn’t really have a good race pace with the Mediums. Things improved with the Hard tires, and our pace was much stronger towards the end of the race. But I couldn’t keep the Mercedes behind me, and with their two-stop strategies, they had a bit more speed than us. It’s good to increase our advantage over Williams, but Sauber was very strong. We will take the positives from this weekend, analyze things, and try to improve our race pace for Singapore.
Nico Hülkenberg – Retirement (brakes):
« It’s always frustrating to start from the back of the grid, and I knew it was going to be difficult to move up the field, even with a fast car. I had some great battles during the race, so from that perspective it was fun, but I had issues with my brakes and lost performance as the race went on. Towards the end, it became a safety concern and we decided to retire. It’s not a particularly memorable weekend for me, but at least the team scored some points with the other car. »
