Sunday: Scuderia Toro Rosso loses a point at the finish
Lacking rhythm during qualifying, Toro Rosso had bet big on the race, but the early retirement of Jean-Eric Vergne and a fuel pump issue for Daniel Ricciardo cost the Italian team the points.
Daniel Ricciardo – 12th:
« It has been very difficult to score points this season, and it is very disappointing not to do so today. I was tenth until the last corner of the last lap. At that moment, I accelerated to exit the Parabolica and nothing happened. For now, I don’t know the cause [of this problem], but missing a point by a hundred meters is so disappointing. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – Withdrawal:
I went to the medical center after the accident, but apart from a little pain in my back and head, I’m fine. I don’t know why I had this accident. All I can remember is that when I braked, I completely lost control of the back. I felt a big impact when the car landed after taking off. The vibrator is high at that spot, and I consider myself lucky that the car didn’t roll over.
