Saturday: Lotus relies on its race pace to do better
If Kimi Räikkönen believes that the lack of performance from his Lotus is not a surprise, he could have hoped for better if he hadn't been stuck behind Fernando Alonso at the Variante Ascari. Jérôme D'Ambrosio, for his part, continues to progress but regrets not being able to do better than the 16th time.
Kimi Räikkönen – 8th and 8th [7th on the grid]:
« We didn’t have the speed today, but at least I’m in the top 10. I’ve been in this position more or less all weekend, so today’s performance isn’t a big surprise. The race will be long and we are usually stronger in race conditions. Overtaking is possible here, so let’s wait for tomorrow. »
Jérôme D’Ambrosio – 17th and 16th [15th on the grid]:
« Frankly, I have mixed feelings. I made it into Q2, but it’s frustrating not to have done a bit better. In the second and third sectors, I’m very close, but I’ve been struggling in the first since yesterday. Between 60 and 70% of the gap with Kimi is there, so I can gain a lot of time in just two corners. I need to work on that for tomorrow. I have a lot to absorb this weekend, so it’s not too bad, but I would have liked to do a bit better. »
