Friday: Busy day for Pic and Glock at Marussia
Timo Glock and Charles Pic had a busy day today in Monza as both Marussia drivers tested different aerodynamic solutions to find the best one for the rest of the weekend. They both expressed satisfaction with their car's performance.
Timo Glock – 22nd and 21st:
« First of all, it’s nice to have stable weather conditions in Monza because this track is really unique and we needed to do a lot of work to prepare. We completed the planned program and evaluated the downforce levels of our rear wings brought here. We did a lot of work on the Canada specification and our latest parts seem to be heading in the right direction, which proves that development as well. Overall, the car looks good and no issues on the long runs for now; lap times are consistent. I’m happy with my free practice 1 and 2. We might need to fine-tune the settings a bit, but overall, it’s a good start and we’ll see what we can do from there. »
Charles Pic – 21st and 22nd:
« It was a very busy day for us, maybe even more than usual because we had to follow a very complex program with our two cars to find the right way to proceed here. We tried a lot of things this morning to be able to analyze them and make a decision on the direction at noon. The track is not easy for setup and it involves a lot of compromises, but I think we worked well to establish a good starting point. There is still a lot of work to do considering what we learned this afternoon and we can still improve a few small things on the car. »
