Lotus without its double DRS at Monza
Considering the specific characteristics of the Monza circuit, the Lotus F1 team is not expected to test its double DRS this weekend during the Italian Grand Prix.
The Lotus F1 team tested its double DRS prototype at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, but did not have its drivers run with this system. Due to the rain that fell on Friday, the system was tested very little, and it would have been too great a gamble to use it for the rest of the weekend.
This system should also not be present on the E20 in Monza this weekend, as the Italian track requires little aerodynamic downforce, and the benefit should not be as significant as on other circuits.
In any case, that’s what the Enstone team’s director, Eric Boullier, suggested: « I am convinced that we will not use it because Monza is Monza. It’s a different aero configuration. »
The double DRS should therefore be back on the black and gold cars at the next Grand Prix, which will take place on the streets of Singapore from September 21 to 23.
