5 penalty places for Webber at Spa
Mark Webber will drop five places on the grid on Sunday at Spa-Francorchamps because the Red Bull team had to change the gearbox of the Australian's car.
Mark Webber, currently second in the World Championship behind Fernando Alonso, will start with a disadvantage this Sunday for the Belgian Grand Prix due to a gearbox change.
The FIA issued a statement today indicating that the Australian driver will have a new gearbox starting tomorrow, as the current one did not complete the five Grand Prix required by the regulations, resulting in a five-place grid penalty for the Belgian race.
The gearbox fitted to the RB8 doesn’t have many kilometers on it, as the Australian driver had already had to change it during the German Grand Prix. Therefore, the gearbox only lasted two Grand Prix, instead of the regulatory five.
