Friday: Bottas continues to learn with Williams, despite the rain
Although the British team suffered like the others on a day dominated by rain, Valtteri Bottas, who was in the seat of Bruno Senna's Williams during Free Practice 1, continues to perfect his Formula One learning. Maldonado, second in Free Practice 1, was satisfied with the balance of his car.
Pastor Maldonado – 2nd and 5th:
« It was a rather frustrating day because we couldn’t ride much, but the same goes for everyone and we’ll all simply focus on tomorrow from now on. It seems that it will be dry, so we must prepare for that and do the best we can. »
Bruno Senna – 18th [in Free Practice 2]:
« It wasn’t a really useful day for the team as we didn’t do much driving, neither in the morning nor in the afternoon. We did some good technical tasks trying to prepare the car for tomorrow and for the race. We didn’t take risks because it wasn’t necessary, but hopefully tomorrow it will be dry and we can complete more laps to prepare for qualifying. »
Valtteri Bottas – 8th [in Free Practice 1]:
« It was very slippery with today’s difficult conditions. The visibility was poor when it rained and when there were cars in front, but we still managed to complete a good number of laps and were able to do some practice starts from the pits. I continue to learn, and if it doesn’t stop raining this weekend, the team has useful data. »
