Red Bull drivers delighted to return to Spa
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are eager to return to competition and are excited to do so at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where they hope to be competitive.
In 2011, Sebastian Vettel won the Belgian Grand Prix ahead of Mark Webber and Jenson Button, and it was a great moment for him: « The Spa circuit is defined by the surrounding nature, and it is one of my favorite tracks. I was really delighted to have won here last year. »
The double reigning world champion loves this track because it offers a real challenge to drivers: « Spa features every type of corner: very fast, fast, medium-fast, and slow chicanes, all alternating with very fast straights. The altitude difference and unpredictable weather make this circuit a true challenge – and it’s one that every race driver loves to tackle. »
Mark Webber agrees with his teammate that the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is a track highly appreciated by drivers and fans, to whom he recommends coming to Belgium at least once in their lifetime to experience this Grand Prix from the inside: Spa is the best track to return to after the break, and it’s really very rewarding for the drivers. It has remained unchanged for a good while and the track has true character. Eau Rouge is a very special part of the circuit; spectators love to come and see the cars here, and I would encourage anyone to come and see it at least once in their life – it’s truly amazing. It’s one of the classic circuits where you feel that F1 belongs on the track.
The Australian driver had to settle for second place last year on the Ardennes rollercoaster, and he hopes to do better this year: « We can’t wait to get there and fight for the victory. »
