Coulthard completed a lap of the New Jersey circuit in F1
The Scottish driver, demonstrating with Red Bull Racing in New York, had the privilege of completing a lap of the Port Imperial circuit, which will host the Grand Prix of America in June 2013. While waiting to release the full video, the Austrian team has revealed a brief but intense clip where Coulthard negotiates the Lincoln Tunnel at over 300 km/h.
After South Korea and the United States, where they had the privilege of being the first to complete a lap of the unfinished circuits of Yeongam and Austin, Red Bull became the first team to drive a Formula One car on the Port Imperial circuit, which is expected to host the Grand Prix of America near New York in June 2013.
Thus, in a video that should soon be unveiled by Red Bull, David Coulthard, Red Bull ambassador, drives the Austrian team’s demonstration single-seater in the Lincoln Tunnel, connecting Manhattan Island to New Jersey, at over 300km/h. The Scotsman then got to complete a lap of the Port Imperial circuit before taking a spin at Liberty State Park – once considered for hosting a Grand Prix – where the reigning world champion team had the Renault V8 perform the American anthem.
The Austrian team has already released a short but intense excerpt from this video: I’m really looking forward to seeing what the final video will look like, says an eager David Coulthard, who also works as a commentator for the BBC. We did the Liberty State Park, the Lincoln Tunnel, and the circuit for next season. Bringing all these elements together, combining high-speed stuff with tracking shots, it’s going to be something very entertaining for the fans. On my Twitter account, fans are already asking me when they can see the video, so there’s a lot of excitement around the return of F1 in America. Red Bull has done more than anyone to promote the fact that we’re going to have not just one but two Grand Prix in the United States. It’s quite a large country with a sophisticated audience […] and for the moment we are offering good races.
But before the Red Bull drivers and their rivals compete for the victory of the first Grand Prix of America, they will first have to stop in Austin next November for the return of the United States Grand Prix.
