Glock will still race for Marussia in 2013
Timo Glock recently revealed that he will continue to race for the Marussia team next season.
While on the Caterham side, Heikki Kovalainen is often mentioned as a contender for a better seat in 2013, Timo Glock, who is somewhat in the same situation as the Finn at Marussia, doesn’t ignite as much interest in the transfer market.
And for good reason, as he mentioned, quoted by the website motorsport-total, the German driver knows what his future looks like because he has a contract with the Russian team for the next season and he intends to honor it. He will therefore start his fourth season with the former Virgin team, now Marussia.
When asked if he regretted turning down the offer from the Renault team at the end of 2009 given the current performance of the team under the Lotus name, Glock responded negatively: «No. In the same situation, I would do the same thing again. If I make a decision, and I know why I’m making it, then there’s no reason to complain or wonder ‘what if’ afterwards. I’m the only one who knows what the situation was. So what I decided was a good thing.»
The Marussia team will therefore retain its leader for one more year in 2013, but the team is still expected to attract interest in the transfer market for the second driver position, as since the team’s creation in 2010, Timo Glock has had a new teammate each year. Charles Pic will thus try to defy this statistic.
