Ferrari: Some Interesting Developments to Come

The first half of the season is now over, and the rest of this 2012 championship is probably not done surprising us. The race for the world titles is likely to be intense, and every little detail can make a difference. Ferrari has understood this well and will bring some modifications to its F2012 for the upcoming races on the calendar.

Ferrari: Some Interesting Developments to Come

Despite leading the drivers’ championship, Ferrari does not have the best car on the grid. In Hungary, Fernando Alonso somewhat fell back into the ranks, although he managed to make a good move in the championship by widening the gap with his pursuers.

The second half of the season is likely to be very tight, and therefore Maranello must not let anything slip if they want to maintain this lead at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix and also be in a position to gain some places in the constructors’ standings.

The Italian team claims to have understood the reasons for its, relatively, underperformance in Hungary and intends to come back stronger after the summer break at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

« We have some interesting developments that we will introduce at Spa, a track that is quite special from the aerodynamic downforce point of view, just like Monza, » explains Pat Fry, technical director of the Scuderia.

The upcoming races will be very important for the Italian team since, in addition to the improvements that will be made to the F2012 to try to tame the rollercoaster of the Ardennes, Ferrari has already planned a special package for the next race in Monza and other innovations for Singapore.

« We also have an aerodynamic and mechanical package specially for the Italian track. A lot of work has been done but there is still much to do. We must keep up the pressure to achieve a high level of performance. We have developed some new features for Spa in the wind tunnel while also focusing on other improvements for Singapore, » reports Fry.

But before that, it will be a time of rest in Maranello, which will close its doors for 15 days – as required by the regulations – starting Monday.
