Pirelli chooses its tires for Spa, Monza, and Singapore

At Spa-Francorchamps, the venue of the Belgian Grand Prix, Pirelli Hard and Medium tires have been selected, allowing drivers to meet the demands of the track that transmits a lot of energy into the tires.

Like Spa, Monza – where the Italian manufacturer’s home race will take place – is characterized by fast corners and high speeds, once again making the Hard and Medium tires the ideal choice for the Italian circuit.

Singapore will mark the return of Formula One on an urban circuit, but this time at night. Pirelli will therefore bring the Super Soft and Soft tires, the same combination used in Monaco and Canada.

For comparison, in 2011, Pirelli had proposed the same tire combination for Singapore, but had preferred Soft and Medium tires for the Grand Prix of Belgium and Italy. However, it should be noted that in 2012, the range of tires from the Italian manufacturer is generally softer than in 2011, with the 2012 Hard tire being equivalent to the 2011 Medium tire, while only the Super Softs have remained unchanged between the two seasons.

The 2012 regulations stipulate that, under normal circumstances, each team receives six sets of the hardest compound and five sets of the softest compound during a race weekend, which can now be used at any time from the practice sessions. Pirelli will also offer, as usual, the Cinturato Green intermediate tire for mixed wet conditions (4 sets per driver) and the Cinturato Blue rain tires (3 sets per driver) for each race.
