Sunday: Williams and Senna reconnect with the points
Bruno Senna managed to bring six welcome points to the Williams team before the break. The Brazilian driver hopes to continue his momentum after the summer break. Pastor Maldonado, on the other hand, experienced a complicated race following his poor start, but the Venezuelan driver is nonetheless satisfied to have gathered data that should be useful for the remainder of the season.
Bruno Senna – 7th
« Today, it was a great race. We were very aggressive with the strategy to make it work well, especially because the track conditions and the weather were different from what we expected, so I’m happy for the team and hope we can maintain this momentum. I had some great battles, and it was challenging to preserve the tires because it was really hot, but it’s good to start 9th and finish 7th. I think this is a key turning point for me. The race was good, the weekend fun, the team is happy, and the break is welcome as it will be a chance to rest before going on the attack for the second part of the season. »
Pastor Maldonado – 13th
« It was a tough race today. I got a bad start, lost a few places which compromised our race from the beginning. It was difficult to have a good rhythm in traffic and then we got that penalty. I was at the limit against di Resta when I locked the wheels and lost grip, but I was on the inside of the corner and there was slight contact. We had to focus on tire management today and we gathered a lot of information for the future. We weren’t as competitive as in the past, but we now need to work hard to focus on this second part of the season after the break. »
