Saturday: Kovalainen and Petrov delighted with the balance of the Caterham

Although they once again subscribed to the 19th and 20th places respectively, Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov come out satisfied with the qualifying session, where only the Russian, due to a small mistake on his last lap, thinks he could have done better. The drivers are optimistic for the race.

Saturday: Kovalainen and Petrov delighted with the balance of the Caterham

Heikki Kovalainen – 19th and 19th:

« It was quite a positive day. In Free Practice 3, the car immediately seemed better balanced and there was more grip, so it was good progress compared to yesterday.

In qualifying, I think I got everything I could out of the car today. I am very happy with that last lap since we didn’t make any mistakes, and I am delighted with the final balance of the car.

We are now looking towards tomorrow’s race and we will continue to attack as always. It could be interesting if there are showers, but overall I feel like I’ve gotten the most out of what we have, and we just need to work on improving the car.

Vitaly Petrov – 20th and 20th:

The day started well with the changes we made during the night, which improved the overall performance of the car.

In qualifying, I think we made exactly the right strategic decisions and in choosing to do two stints on Soft tires. I had a good first stint but, on my second, we were set for a fast lap to take advantage of track conditions and unfortunately, I lost time in turn 11.

Despite that, I am very happy with the car’s settings and I feel that we have made good progress this weekend. Tomorrow is another day and I think we can have a good car, as it has been the case all season.
