Friday: Williams has the potential to do well
A positive Friday for Williams whose car seems to handle the Hungarian circuit well. As is the case every Friday, Bottas was behind the wheel this morning and set the 9th fastest time ahead of Maldonado. The Finn was delighted to have driven in dry conditions and to have been able to complete the program planned by the team. In the afternoon, Bruno Senna took over the wheel of his Williams and finished the session in third place. Now it's just a matter of performing as well in qualifying...
Pastor Maldonado – 11th and 12th:
« It was a very busy day for us. We tried different things to determine which direction we should take with the settings for the rest of the weekend. We didn’t complete everything we had planned for the long stints because of this afternoon’s rain, so it’s hard to know where we stand. I’m confident for what’s to come, but we still have work to do for tomorrow morning’s session to ensure we can improve before the qualifiers. »
Bruno Senna – 3rd [in Free Practice 2]:
« It was a good afternoon to get an idea of the track conditions and how the tires were working. The car was handling well, but we need to keep working. There is potential, which makes me confident for the qualifying tomorrow.
Valtteri Bottas – 9th [in Free Practice 1]:
« It was a good first session for us. It was dry, and so we completed our program without any issues. The car is behaving well, and we were able to make some improvements during the session. There are still things to fine-tune, but overall it was a very good morning. »
